Subtle Creations
Book Vikki

I am an award winning quilter; quilt designer, fiber artist, and quilt teacher - with over 22 years of experience. I have spent years perfecting my skills and I continue to do so. In addition to my quilting, custom made quilts, original designs, and pattern designs, I also offer classes using my award winning techniques.

Classes range from basic machine piecing to advanced embellishment using a combination of long arm machine quilting, hand beading and stitching, and machine appliqué and piecing. I believe in experimentation being key to advancing one's skills. By learning various techniques we are better able to find our niche.

Classes usually range from eight to twenty individuals. For teaching classes I charge by the hour ($30/h plus room and board - I prefer outside accommodations to being billeted, unless I have a private room with bathroom), plus $0.30/km travel.

Classes are booked for either evenings (6:00 PM - 10:00 PM approximately 3 hours), or during the day (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM, approximately 6 hours), or a Friday evening (3 hours), Saturday day (6 hours), and Sunday day (6 hours).

I am willing to provide a free trunk show if I am teaching a class. An enjoyable way to incorporate this into the classes is to have the members of the class bring a dish for a pot luck, those who bring a dish get in free - or alternatively they can bring canned foods for a local food bank.

I teach so that students can create their own unique project. All of my classes have numerous ways to complete the project so the student has some control over how complicated they want their piece.

This also allows beginners to be included in with the more advanced quilters thus gaining insight of their knowledge as well as my own.

I encourage students to take as many classes as possible from as many different teachers to expand their knowledge, therefore enabling them to make better-informed decisions on what methods they choose to use in their quilting. There are no wrong ways to quilt - only different.

I am always sure to include a brief talk regarding copyright issues before each class.
